Born in Fort Sanders Hospital, Knoxville, TN, on May 23, 1951. Parents: Oran Matney and Mildred Rebecca (Hampton) Reed Grew up in Etowah, TN, St. and Paul's UMC. Graduated from McMinn Central High School, 1969; from Tennessee Wesleyan College, 1973; Emory University, Candler School of Theology, 1977 Ordained Deacon - 1974; Ordained Elder - 1978. Married Rebecca Keck in 1979/divorced 2001. Two children: Annie Rebecca (Reed) Jones and Jeremy Alan Reed. Retired: June 1997; Reactivated: June 2000. Married Deata Trent McConnell in 2006/divorced 2015. 1988-96, served on Conference Board of Ordained Ministry and 1992-96, chaired Committee on Nurture & Support which developed the Minnisterial Enhancement Program. 2002-06, served on the Witness Minnistry Team as Chairperson of the Committee on Rural Churches. Have served on various committees in the districts where I have served.
