The purpose of this event is to educate attendees about the science of addiction and how addiction rewires the brain. Addicts cannot just ‘make a good decision’ to quit. The brain needs healing for this to happen.

The event will touch on the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of addiction.

Speakers and topics include:

Tim Hilton - National Recovery Advocate - He will speak about the addict's brain and give his testimony 

Phil LaFoy- Pharmaceutical expert on opioid laws/narcan
Dr. James Choo - Owner of Pain Consultants of East TN - expert on pain management (physical component in addiction)
Sara Ridner - LCSW - trauma and addiction counselor (emotional component in addiction) 
Pastor Jeremy Graham - faith based recovery (spiritual component in addiction)
Bill Lee - Intervention Specialist 

Panel:  All of the above plus: Amanda Ingle - SAPAT, Mayor Mitchell or Charles Sterling (Blount County Judicial Initiative), and someone from the Drug Task Force
