Pastor Blog - Wears Valley UMC

June 24, 2010

Wears Valley United Methodist Church marked 123years of service to our Lord on December 24,2009.It was on December 25,1886,that the ReverendJ.D.Lawson preached the first sermon as he dedicated our current sanctuary to the service of God.Each Christmas Eve the chandelier,a central part of the original lighting of the sanctuary, is lit as we celebrate the welcoming of Christ into the world at our Candle Lighting and Communion Service.

Following the annual Christmas festivities, the year continues in service to Christ with a regular Sunday schedule of worship and education. It is the calling of our church to reach, teach and nurture souls.Opportunities for those seeking answers to life's spiritual questions are  the purpose of the church as laid before us in scripture. We take God's plan for life seriously and answer to God for how we minister to others.

We also gather for fellowship. There are many opportunities throughout the year for fun and excellent meals as we use this time to better know each other. We are pleased to be blessed by God with a facility that can provide much for the life of the Wears Valley Community.

We consider it a privilege to welcome many visitors to our church annually as they travel through this valley of God's great creation. We are also delighted to welcome new neighbors who live here in beautiful Wears Valley. We invite you to come and honor God with us.

We are located approximately 7.5 miles from stop light 3 in Pigeon Forge and 7.2 miles from the stop light in Townsend.
