Green Beans Galore!

Church members gave away hundreds of bags of fresh green beans free of charge to the community on two different occasions in 2014! Through the help and assistance of the St. Andrews Project, good quality beans were gleaned from fields on the Tennessee plateau and trucked back home to Sevier County. Here, volunteers from the church and community worked through literally tons of green beans and sorted into family-sized bags to give away.

Often called a "crop drop" this effort is a great example of gleaning a perfectly good food product that would otherwise be disposed and get it into hands that can use it.

The Sevier County Food Ministry was also a major recipient of the green bean crop drop from Pleasant Hill UMC in 2014!
