Pastor's Pen

May the peace of Christ be with you.

Fall is fast approaching. We eagerly await cooler weather and beautiful fall colors. Fall is truly a great time to appreciate God's creation. I encourage each of you to spend time each day on meditating on God's glory shown through nature.

Fall also marks the beginning of many exciting activities here at Norwood United Methodist Church. From the pumpkin patch, to the fall festival, to Norwood's annual BBQ; there are many opportunities for our church family to join together in fellowship and in effort to support existing ministries.  Please be as active as possible in these activities. I think you will find them very personally rewarding.

Finally, fall is a great time to grow closer to God through study.  Beginning on Wednesday, September 3rd, at noon, the Bible study class will resume.  This fall we will be studying Joshua, Judges, and Ruth.  This is always a great time for fellowship and lively discussion.  Just let me know if you plan to attend and I will get you a book.

Beginning September 17th, at 6:00PM, I will be leading a study called "Making Sense of the Bible."  This is a six week study that examines questions like who wrote the Bible, why does the Bible seem inconsistent in places, and how are we to understand difficult issues in light of Scripture? I hope that you can join me in this exciting study.
