Wesley Leadership Institute
Equipping Holston Conference leaders toward faithful, creative, and fruitful ministry in the Wesleyan Tradition
The Wesley Leadership Institute (WLI) develops standards of training/education, systems for accountability and responsibility in reporting/recording continuing education activity for clergy, information about upcoming training opportunities available in the Southeast area, and grants to support clergy toward participating in continuing education activities.
Select the searchable UPCOMING EVENTS to find events sponsored by WLI approved institutions (see links and resources page for web links). The site includes events for clergy continuing education and district, conference, and denominational training. WLI is committed to providing lifelong learning opportunities that nurture mind and heart of clergy in the Wesleyan tradition. WLI serves as the primary body within the Annual Conference that facilitates continuing education for ordained clergy, training for Pastors in transition to new churches and First Time Appointees in Holston Conference.
Continuing Education for clergy is delegated to Wesley Leadership Institute by the Board of Ordained Ministry. Standards have been developed to insure that continuing education units (CEUs) are of value in equipping clergy for fruitful ministries. The 2008 United Methodist Discipline mandates lifelong learning for clergy (Paragraph 350, 351).
Grants are available for eligible pastors under appointment to provide financial assistance toward continuing education opportunities.
