Congregational Development and Revitalization

Annual Conference 2016 Presentation:

The office of Congregational Development and Revitalization is led by a committee established by the Annual Conference and the director, Rev. Rusty Taylor.

The purpose of this office is to help initiate new faith communities with the support of existing congregations across the Annual Conference.  We also assist in the revitalization of existing congregations with the help of a strong church or cluster of strong churches.

People are our greatest resource and when God’s people work together to reach those who are not a part of a church family, great things can happen.

Grants are provided to local churches by funding from the Annual Conference.  These grants are based on strategies that will help a local congregation grow.  These grants are typically not for maintenance or equipment, but for salary/program support that will strengthen a congregation’s ministry to their community. If you would like to apply for a grant for your church, please submit a detailed proposal, including goals and projected expenses, to rustytaylor@holston.org.

It is the desire of our committee to help our churches reach more people, more younger people, and more diverse people for Christ.

Two programs that we make available to the congregations of the Annual Conference are Natural Church Development and MissionInsite.

  • Natural Church Development is a church assessment program that  congregations can use to zero in on areas of growth and improvement.
  • MissionInsite is a church based demographic program that can help our churches know the community where their church is located.

Please contact Sue Weber or Rusty Taylor if our office can be of help to your church.  Our number is 865-294-4149. Or, send an email to sueweber@holston.org or rustytaylor@holston.org.
