Black History Month - Voices of Morristown College Video Screening and Panel Discussion

Feb. 27, 2017

Time: 5:30pm
Location: Holston Conference Center Event Center 1st floor
Price: Free

Screening at 5:30pm with panel discussion to follow.

As a feature for black history month, a video commemorating the history of Morristown College was produced in conjunction with the Morristown Task Force on Diversity.

The 35 minute feature called “Voices of Morristown College” provides commentary from people who studied and taught at the college while it was opened.  Many of the buildings were recently torn down.  The theme is one of an important impact the college had on the Morristown community from its earliest years immediately following the emancipation of slaves.

The video includes commentary from Charlotte Williams (Chattanooga District), a member of our African American Ministry Team.  Charlotte’s commentary paves way for dialogue on issues of importance in regard to historically black colleges and African American history.
