Tri-State Food Pantry
Sand Mountain UMC
The Tri-State Food Pantry is a hunger ministry of Sand Mountain United Methodist Church in cooperation with several other churches in the Sand Mountain community. Providing food to any family that meets the USDA guidelines for poverty on the first and third Friday of every month, the Tri-State Food Pantry attempts to make a dent in the scourge of rural poverty in our community.
Currently serving approximately 485 families with nearly 14 tons of food per month, the Tri-State Food Pantry is an all-volunteer organization supported by community donations. Our food comes from the Atlanta and Chattanooga area Food Banks and from community food drives.
If you live in the service area as listed above, in need of food, and meet the USDA guidelines, you may apply at the Food Pantry on the first and third Friday of the month between the hours of 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Food is distributed during the same hours. A brief worship service including Holy Communion is celebrated at 2:30.
Volunteers are always needed. Food boxes are packed on the Wednesday preceding distribution beginning at 3:00 p.m. People to assist with distribution are needed on the first and third Friday during distribution hours. Other volunteer opportunities exist. Call or email the church for more information.
