Got Holston health insurance? Deadlines announced

Participants in the Holston Conference health insurance program should note the following deadlines and recommendations.

For active participants:

Active participants may change their coverage plans or individual/family status during the open enrollment period from Oct. 15 through Nov. 30. To do this, notify Kathy Parker in writing at kathyparker@holston.org or at Holston Conference, P.O. Box 2506, Johnson City, TN 37605-2506. Changes are effective Jan. 1, 2010.

Rates for various plans are published in the 2009 "Book of Reports" on pages 102-103 or visit the Holston finance web pages for more information. Important: Inform your payroll processor of any health insurance changes.

For retirees:

Retirees on the Medicare Part D prescription program should analyze their current medication expenses at medicare.gov and make any cost-effective changes in their plans during the Nov. 15 to Dec. 31 open enrollment period.

"There are 54 plans to choose from. To maximize their dollars and savings, retirees really need to analyze their medications every year," said John Tate, conference treasurer. "Thirty minutes could possibly save a person $300-$400 a year."

Retirees requesting assistance may make an appointment with Tate by contacting Angela Lee at angelalee@holston.org or (866) 690-4080.

For church treasurers:

Churches that pay online for employee health insurance will receive discounts of $4 to $19 per month. Contact John Tate for a preview of the electronic pay site. Additional information will soon be provided.
